Our people

Good people will keep clients happy and in turn increase shareholders value. At FINWorks we believe that building and investing in people is one of our top priorities.
Our teams consist of experienced project managers, professional software developers, trainers and mentors that are well versed in the development of object oriented systems and business solutions.

Directors

Otto Behrens
   Otto was a founding member of FINWorks in 1998, initially exploring technology opportunities in the financial industry.
Between 1992 and 1996 he worked in the IT industry.
He joined Momentum Administration Services in 1996.
Otto joined Equinox.co.za (Pty) Ltd as Director in 2000.
In 2003 he joined Rand Merchant Bank International based in London UK as CTO.
Otto Resigned in 2005 to start his own business ventures and during 2005 FINWorks became operational.
Otto obtained his BSC Computer Science (1992) and HONS (1995) at the University of Pretoria.
He is married to Talita and has three boys aged 12, 10 and 2.


Walther Behrens
   Walther worked for Momentum Administration Services from 1996 to 2000.
He then joined Equinox.co.za (Pty) Ltd as director.
In 2002 he resigned from Equinox to start his own business ventures.
Walther joined FINWorks as Director in 2005.
Walther obtained his BCOM Informatics (1995) and MBA (2003) degrees at the University of Pretoria.
He is married to Heleen and has three boys aged 4, 2 and newborn.


Team


Kimberly Anderson
   Kimberly is a senior software developer specialising in Smalltalk/GemStone.
Kimberly began her Smalltalk/GemStone career in Vancouver Canada in 1996.
She has since been instrumental in developing in-house systems for financial institutions around the world
(San Francisco, London, Toronto and South Africa).
Kimberly enjoys spending time in the bushveld.


Talita Behrens
   Talita worked in the IT industry since 1995.
She was a lecturer at Bond University and Damelin College between 1999 and 2003 (Computer Studies departement).
Talita obtained her BSC Computer Science (1992), Higher Educational Diploma (1993) and BSc(HONS) (1996) at the University of Pretoria.
She also completed a SAQA level 5 'Train the Trainer' course.
She joined FINWorks in 2005 as a software developer.
Talita is married to Otto and has three boys aged 12, 10 and 2.
 


Mari-Jeanne Coetsee
   Mari-Jeanne started at FinWorks in June 2010 as bookkeeper.
She is currently studying part-time through UNISA for her BEd (Early Childhood Development - Foundation Phase) degree and does part time aupair work in the mornings.


Cobus Coetzee
   Cobus joined Finworks in 2007 as a developer.
Between 1997 and 2007 he worked at Business Connexion ( QData ) where he was involved in various projects, mostly in the financial industry. He was a Senior Consultant at the time of his departure.
Cobus joined Alexander Forbes in 1996 as a developer.
He obtained a National Diploma in Computer Systems from the Vaal Triangle Technikon (Vaal University of Technology) 1995.
He is married to Karen and has 3 children.
 


Pieter Jacobs
   Pieter was trained and qualified in the electronic field but in 1997 the "IT bug" bit!
Since then he gained a lot of experience in software development (Java, C#, Delphi, Oracle PL/SQL, etc.) and software administration (JEE, .NET, WebSphere, Tivoly Identity Manager, StarTeam, Pastel, etc.) at financial institutions like Charter Life, Mutual and Federal and the PN Group. He is internationally certified in Java, XML, etc.
The last couple of years he spent in IT and Operations management but in 2010 joined FINWorks where he can live out his passion (software development and software administration).
He is married to Madie and has a daughter; and they "dig" the outdoor life.


Dirk Nel
   Dirk Nel received his B.Sc. Informatics from the University of Pretoria where he studied between 1995 and 1998.
He plotted maps from 1998 to 2001 at GEOSystems and designed fighter planes at Denel Aviation from 2001 to 2006 (not!).
In 2006 he met the usual suspects (Otto and Walther) and because of his vast expertise in the financial industry (see above) they offered him a job. That‘s where he is today, working through as many Pomodoros (Google it man!) as his tea breaks will allow. When Dirk is not writing software he writes songs which is almost the same but incredibly different: he still refuses to factor out multiple chorusses.
 

Danie Roux
   Danie is currently Team Mascot at FinWorks. Danie is also the President at 4th Dimension Toastmasters.
Prior to joining FinWorks, Danie was a Team Lead at DevStream. Danie also held the position of Portal & Web Integration Specialist at the University of Pretoria.

His education achievements include:
- BSc(Hons) Technology Management (University of Pretoria)
- BSc(Hons) Computer Science (University of Pretoria)
- BSc Information Technology (University of Pretoria)
- NLP Practitioner (Inspiritu NLP training)
- LPI level 1 certification (Linux Professional Institute)


Amór Storm
   Before FinWorks Amór did software implementations and training for QuickBooks, Brilliant Accounting, Pastel, SAP Business One and Ghost Practice legal software.
She started at Finworks in January 2008 as bookkeeper and later moved to the Momentum site as Test Analyst on the RMBIS system.
She currently works from the FinWorks office, testing mainly the Allan Gray Group RA and Orbis Australia systems.
  


Rinca Swart
   Rinca joined Finworks in April 2008.
She started her career as a teacher in 1986 and after 3 years moved to the private sector gaining experience and knowledge in data analysis and design, software engineering and design, network support, system integration, system analysis, business analysis, data warehousing and project management in various industries:
- Fire control (military weapons) support (Kentron),
- Military reconnaissance (Geo Systems/Teklogic/Altech Defence Systems)
- Air force pilot training; Driver licence; (Cenit System Integrators),
- Manufacturing systems (Hulett Aluminium/SA Mint/SA Breweries,
- Medical administration and insurance integration systems (Medikredit),
- Investment systems (Momentum).
She obtained her BSC Computer Science (1985) and Higher Educational Diploma (1986) at the University of Orange Free State, Bloemfontein.
She is married to Blackie and has two daughters aged 17 and 15.
  


Elsa van Wyk
   Elsa joined FINWorks in 2006.
She has done web development for Webonline and Tshwane University of Technology from 2002 to 2005.
Obtained her BTech degree (2005) at TUT
She is married to Ben and has 2 boys age 12 and 19.
  


Andrew Vine
   Andrew Joined Finworks in 2010 as a Senior Developer
He has a BCOM deree in Informatics through UNISA.
He has 8 years experience in OO, working in Java and Smalltalk.
He has worked at financial institutes like FNB and Momentum.
